Saturday Night on the Circle – Episode 27 – Culture Wars Continue

August 16, 2020

The staggering increase of Indianapolis gun crime has attracted the attention of Federal authorities who are sending more than 40 agents to aid local officers investigating unsolved gun crimes, gang activity, and narcotics trafficking. This is part of a multi-city initiative dubbed "Operation Legend" named after a 4-year-old who was shot and killed in Kansas City, Missouri in June of this year. Meanwhile Indianapolis authorities levy a $1,000 fine on the Indianapolis Speedrome for exceeding their capacity limits while hosting a race over the weekend-- while the individual who held up a motorist at gun point during a Black Lives Matter protest last week still roams free, though IMPD claims an investigation is "ongoing." Tucker Carlson was criticized after mispronouncing the name of Senator Kamala Harris, media outlets quickly denounced it as "racist," "intentional" and "disrespectful." What happened next is a hilarious illustration of hypocrisy. In Chicago, Black Lives Matter gathered to support the more than 100 individuals arrested during the widespread looting and property destruction on the Magnificent Mile. The actions were defended as "reparations" by the demonstrators. In Seattle after the City Council voted to defund their local police department and reallocate the money to community services, the city's first Black police Chief Carmen Best resigned for her position citing the lack of appreciation to her department. This comes as Black Lives Matter protesters in that city of Seattle too their protests to neighborhoods demanding the owners surrender their property and leave. Suffice to say it was an extraordinary week in news, and this week Ethan Hatcher and Dr. David Root were on top of their game! Listen to the full show and subscribe for future episodes.
